Few country houses in England carry three centuries of a single family’s history within their walls, but Ombersley Court does exactly that. Built in the 1720s for Samuel Sandys, then Member of Parliament for Worcester, this Grade I listed Georgian manor was the seat of the Lord Sandys for generations. A careful restoration has preserved its palatial character while bringing it fully into the present, from the porticoed Grand Hall with its galleried landing and dual fireplaces to the original library lined with carved oak bookshelves and the Chinese Chippendale room once prepared for the Prince Regent.Just under fifty acres of Grade II listed parkland unfold beyond the house, laid out by John Webb in the early 18th century with sweeping lawns, mature specimen trees, and a walled kitchen garden complete with pump room and ice house. On the edge of the village of Ombersley in Worcestershire, it offers a rare combination: documented English heritage and more than 2,731 sqm of lovingly restored accommodation.
